You can't have it all

We're here today to discuss Cub Scouts. Pinewood Derby. Speed vs. Style. And Science Fairs.

The important things.

Really. This is more about the perfectionism that my son has inherited from his mama.

He loves his car.
But he loves winning more.
And his car was not fast.
Cool, but not fast.
He held it together.
But he was disappointed.
Understandable, yes?

Turning disappointment into a learning experience, Tyler now knows what he wants to do for his science fair project.

My Car Is Cool, But Why Isn't It Fast? The Science Behind Pinewood Derby Speed.

No matter what...
We are proud of him.

I remember Pinewood Derby days with both of my brothers and my dad trying to get the cars to look cool and fast. I don't recall if they ever won. People used to put magnets or weights underneath. I used to think that was cheating, but what do I know. His car was very very cool though!

It took us two boys, ~ seven cars and designs until we had a car that was even competitive. For us the key was 1) alignment, 2) weight distribution - then 3)aerodynamics.

I'm thinking with some help from his dad, he should be a shoe in. My boys, on the other hand,...well, you don't have to know much about physics to be a salesman. LOL!

Better luck next year.

Aw, what a sweet boy. It's hard not to win. I deal with that with Brian a lot. But he shall achieve great things with an ambition like that an d a rockin' mom!

Kim--haha, weights are legal!! One day you will know all the rules once Preston gets into this whole thing!!
Paul--we will look into this for his research.
Chelle--he can do the salesman thing!
Mary--I think it's the first child thing! And I curse you for your adverbs post!! I thought about it the whole time I typed this up!
